Bradley Jordan, born August 12, 1999, moved from the Chicago area to Washington Island when he turned 3 years old. Bradley was fun-loving even as a young child. He attended both Washington Island School and was homeschooled until 5th grade when he attended the Washington Island school full-time until he graduated as Salutatorian in June 2018. Bradley was diagnosed with dyslexia in 1st grade but did not let this challenge dampen his zest for life. He was a 3-4 season athlete throughout his life, playing soccer, basketball, baseball, and golf. His favorite sport was basketball.
Bradley worked with the Washington Island Electric Coop as an intern during his senior year of high school. Upon graduation, he attended Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Green Bay and completed the Electrical Power Distribution certification in March 2019. After finishing at NWTC, he worked for his family’s excavating business on Washington Island until December 2019 when he moved to Sturgeon Bay and worked with the Door County Highway Department. In April 2023, he left the highway department and started working with JF Construction, Sister Bay, WI.
On July 9, 2023, after spending a fun-filled July 4th holiday on Washington Island with friends and family, heading home to Sturgeon Bay on his motorcycle, Bradley was struck and killed.
Bradley lived life to the fullest and was a friend to everyone. He had a way of making everyone feel loved and important because that is genuinely how he felt. Bradley fought ferociously for the underdog yet was tenderhearted and kind. His dry sense of humor would have everyone laughing. This tragedy has left a gaping hole in the Door County community as Bradley was loved by so many. He is missed by all who knew him!
One small community can come together in support of our Island youth. In July 2023, our community tragically lost Bradley Jordan in a horrific motorcycle accident. In tribute to Bradley’s remarkable spirit and love for the Washington Island School, the Bradley Jordan Foundation (a 501(c)(3) foundation) is seeking to build a gymnasium in his honor. The gymnasium will provide a much-needed facility to be used by students and open to our community.
The combination of revenue limits and sparse state aid has left many Wisconsin schools unable to meet their operational needs. Washington Island is one of the state's most severely underfunded school districts! This is NOT because they overspend but because they are severely underfunded by our state. The school already runs on a bare-bones budget.
To bring this vision to life, we need your help! We’re reaching out to ask for your generous donations to help fund the gym's construction. Your contribution will not only honor Bradley’s memory but will also create a lasting legacy that benefits our Island, our students and our community.
